Santo Domingo Colonial City Tourism Development Program

The purpose of the consultancy was to provide support to the Executing Unit of the Santo Domingo Colonial City Tourism Development Program, executed by the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic.

The objective of this five-year project is to contribute to the country’s consolidation as a tourism power in the region, opening new market niches that complement the “sun and beach” market and promoting tourism based on the richness and importance of the historical-cultural heritage and social inclusion. The general objective of the program is to boost the competitiveness of the Dominican tourism sector by diversifying the current offer to satisfy high-spending demand segments, generate greater benefits for the local population, and reduce pressure on the coast. The specific objective is to increase the income and employment generated by tourism in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo through the development of tourism products with high competitive potential.
