Development of a Model for Female Entrepreneurship in El Salvador

The purpose of the consultancy was to prepare the baseline for the project Development of a Model for Female Entrepreneurship in El Salvador (ATN/ME 13527-ES). The project is executed by the National Commission for Micro and Small Enterprises (CONAMYPE) and is partially financed with resources provided by the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
This project was formulated to help strengthen the economic performance of women entrepreneurs in El Salvador. The purpose was to design and implement a comprehensive training model for women entrepreneurs, mainly beneficiaries of the Ciudad Mujer program. The project proposes to address these limitations expressed primarily in the lack of management skills of Salvadoran businesswomen to run their businesses efficiently, and the lack of business plans to guide the fundamental activities for the success of a business project. The aim is to design a Comprehensive Model for Promoting Female Entrepreneurship that offers training tools, technical assistance, financing, and ongoing advice to help women entrepreneurs develop their skills, motivation, creativity, self-confidence, and willingness to take risks, which are inherent to entrepreneurial activity. Both public and private sector institutions participated in the implementation of this model.
