Creation of the Brokopondo and Paramaribo tourism clusters

The Innovation Pilot Programme for Business in Suriname (IFS) is a sub-component of the Suriname Business Climate and Innovation Programme (SUBCIP-I). The specific purpose of the BPI is to support pilot innovation projects that increase the capabilities of enterprises by mitigating market failures that affect innovation in enterprises. It is expected that the BPI will contribute to sales growth, increased employment and a better connection between local companies and the global value chains in which they participate. The support of the BPI is expected to result in increased production, profits, productivity and competitiveness of local companies.
The objective of the consultancy was to develop viable proposals for tourism companies, clusters or value chains, which are ready to be submitted in the final IFS call. To this end, meetings were held with the main tourism stakeholders in Suriname, as well as with the IFS Task Manager, the staff of the Department of Tourism of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism and the team of the Suriname Business Climate and Innovation Program.
