The purpose of the consultancy was to conduct a baseline study of the “Business Alliance for the Amazon” project, defining the operationalization of the context and results indicators established in the Monitoring Plan, as well as the measurement methodologies and data collection instruments. The Amazon Business Alliance (AEA) is an initiative led by Conservation International Peru and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), whose main objective is to develop an innovative platform to facilitate the emergence and growth of sustainable businesses in the Peruvian Amazon. The Alliance incorporates innovative services and solutions to align and facilitate public and private investment in sustainable businesses in Amazonas, Huanuco, Loreto, Madre de Dios, San Martin and Ucayali in Peru.
AEA aims to facilitate the conditions necessary to catalyze sustainable development at scale in the Peruvian Amazon, thus contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals and the country’s Nationally Determined Contributions, working with project developers, investors, corporate partners, government agents, civil society organizations, research centers, local and indigenous communities, among others.
