The objective of the consultancy was to conduct the Mid-Term Evaluation of the UNEP/UNIDO project “PlanetGOLD Mongolia-Philippines: Contributing to the Elimination of Mercury in the Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mining (ASGM) Sector: From Miners to Refiners”, to analyze the progress of the project, the problems or challenges it had encountered and what corrective actions were needed. The evaluation reviewed the project’s performance (in terms of relevance, effectiveness and efficiency) in each of the countries, and determined the likelihood that the project would achieve its intended results and support its sustainability.
This project is part of the global planetGOLD program, which is implemented in 23 countries by united nations agencies such as UNDP, UNEP and UNIDO.
